#34: Why is the Quran a book from God?

Today I have a conversation with an atheist who said he read part of the Quran, so, when I said that the Quran has aspects that make it impossible to be a human creation, asked me: what are those aspects?

So, I said:

Well,

ten things, just from the top of my mind:

First, its resonance with mind and soul, to the extent even a young child can memorize it cover-to-cover (letter by letter and punctuation by punctuation). It is memorized by millions of all ages and nationalities over the world cover-to-cover, even by people who do not speak Arabic! Oral lineage (apart from the written text) is maintained strictly from each person who memorizes it by heart, person to person, until the prophet. It is a fulfillment of Allah’s promise to preserve it. If every Quran on the face of the earth vanishes, the book will continue living normally in the hearts and on the tongues of Muslims all over the world, untouched!

Second, its language (which you cannot fully appreciate unless you speak Arabic), but you can feel from the translation (to a very limited extent) if it is a good one.

Third, its compelling appeal to the human psyche.

Fourth, the way it has been revealed (discrete verses), and then the way it is one whole coherent book at the end, such that when you read it you don’t get any sense of discontinuity… just flows smoothly.

Fifth, the stories and the wisdom drawn from them, and the corrections made to the same stories in previous books to rid them from human corruption, and the consistency with accessible history.

Sixth, scientific accuracy, standing scientific challenges, cosmic explanations.

Seventh, moral values cannot be attributed to the Arab pagan environment, nor to the dominant mainstream in the world at that time.

Eighth, a complete book of the law, written in eloquent language, applied to real-life problems, extendible and flexible to include new derivations as time and complexity grow with human civilization.

Ninth, international law, and a solid foundation for international accords that make the global scene livable (if applied).

Tenth, a supreme harmony with the human soul. Brings tears to your eyes with its description of how you think and feel, and a prominent ability to heal internal wounds.

I could do more, yet the above will do as an introduction.
