The Game!
Reaching the top can require so much energy and commitment, and many say that it is not possible for them to reach the top.
We see that people who are not doing well in fields of very high importance can actually reach the top in other activities of their choice!
How many times have you seen a student who is not doing well in his studies who is able to get medals in the sport that he likes?!But if you look closer, you find that he does in the sport exactly what is required to make him the top student of his class; he goes to the training on time, puts in lots and lots of hours, practices special skills alone and with others, follows and watches how the champions of the sport live, practice and play!!! Essentially he is doing everything in the sport that is required to for him to be a good achiever in his study !
Now, let’s reflect on our life:
Some people are not good at all at what matters in life; relation to Allah, family, professional achievement, … etc. but, you will find that the same people have great passion and ability to achieve in other fields, including video games, sports, social networking, and other fields of choice!
Imagine a husband spending hours upon hours on video games, or even traditional games, like chess. He strives to a high ranking on the leader board and does not settle for anything other than the top of the list! Such energy and commitment and a huge mental and psychological effort!
What if his family meant so much to him that he set such effort to be the best father on the leader board, or the best manager at work, or the best mentor at school?!Well, I suggest that the same amount of energy and commitment can get you on the leader board of what counts as most important to you in your life, whatever it is!
Some might complain that some fields of life also require talent to be the best therein, but I trust that even if you can’t be the best, you can be for sure of the best if you put the effort and passion given it really matters to you!
Now, think of what it takes to be a top achiever with God; a person who has his name on the leaderboard of paradise!!!Yes, not more than what it takes to be on the leaderboard of so much of what you already excel in, and put your walk and where your talk is: commitment, effort, persistence.
